Baked Apple Fritters: A Delicious 20-Minute Treat

Warm, soft, cinnamon-apple fritters, baked not fried, a quick & easy treat.

Ingredients

* 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped

* 1 large egg

* 2 cups all-purpose flour

* 1/2 cup granulated sugar

* 2 teaspoons baking powder

* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

* 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

* 1/4 teaspoon salt

* 1/2 cup milk

* 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

* 1 cup powdered sugar

* 2-4 tablespoons milk

* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Peel, core, and chop or grate the apples.

3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

4. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, milk, and melted butter.

5. Gently pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and fold until just combined. Fold in the apples.

6. Drop mounds of batter onto the prepared baking sheet using spoons or an ice cream scoop.

7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

8. While fritters cool, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk (2-4 tablespoons) for the glaze.

9. Dip warm fritters in glaze and place on a wire rack.
